Following in the success of the first two editions, The Micronarc Alpine Meeting 2012 will continue its focus on equipment for manufacturing microproducts.

This 2.5 day conference intends to stimulate networking and discussions in the casual atmosphere of Villars, a charming village and ski resort located at 1250 meters of altitude. A selection of invited speakers and presentations will comprise the program. A small, table-top exhibition will be conducted in parallel for those wishing to promote their company and products.

The conference will take place on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, thus permitting paticipants that wish to arrive early to take advantage of the close proximity the ski lifts or simply relax for a couple of days in a laid-back Alpine setting. A conference dinner on Thursday evening at 1800 meters of altitude will add a touch of local charm.

A limited number of participants will be able to attend the event. Don’t miss it!

MECATRONIC Connection : trois premières éditions à succès !

Combinaison de la mécanique, de l'électronique et de l'informatique en temps réel, la mécatronique est un marché qui ne cesse d'évoluer, et touche de plus en plus d'industriels dans leur évolution technologique.

Titre : « La propriété intellectuelle : préservons notre capital suisse d'innovation ! »

Cette 4ème édition du forum Micronarc a pour but de présenter de manière complète et pragmatique
la question de la propriété intellectuelle en Suisse, en s’appuyant sur une double articulation: théorique et juridique (avec la participation de professionnels du droit: l’avocate et professeur de Propriété intellectuelle à l’Université de Neuchâtel, Nathalie Tissot; André Roland, conseil en brevets et le consultant en information David Borel) et pratique avec les témoignages et expériences de professionnels issus de l’horlogerie avec Emmanuel Vuille, directeur général de Greubel Forsey, du sport avec Audrey Ravenswaay de SCOTT Sports SA et des technologies informatiques avec Pierre Chênes de Logitech.

La combinaison entre aspects juridiques, conseils pratiques et retours sur expérience permettra aux participants d’avoir une vue générale des problèmes, mais surtout des solutions en matière de propriété intellectuelle. Il paraît maintenant acquis que la technologie RFID représente une innovation majeure et nouvelle permettant la « gestion de l’objet », dont l’ampleur et les conséquences sont au moins comparables à celles de la micro informatique, d’Internet ou de la téléphonie mobile.

L’identification par étiquette RFID peut apporter bien plus qu’une amélioration des méthodes de marquage des objets. Elle ouvre sur une nouvelle approche de gestion de l’information offrant un gisement de productivité et de différentiation inédits (services associés, personnalisation, etc.). Dès lors, évoquer l’Internet des objets ne paraît plus exagéré. Les opérateurs Télécoms considèrent d’ailleurs que la gestion des objets – après les entreprises et les individus – est l’avenir de leur activité de fournisseur d’infrastructures et de bande passante. Cela concernera surtout des opportunités considérables de création de valeur dans l’industrie, l’énergie, le transport et plus généralement dans l’ensemble de l’économie. Nanotechnology: Nano-hype or Nano-reality? ...and what can it do for your company?

Nanotechnology has created a buzz that has nearly become a household word. Most people are now able to associate the prefix nano- with very small. Even smaller than small. Many commercial products already exist that take advantage of this perception in their marketing strategies. Nano-Polish (cars), Lifepak nano (skin care), Nanogreens (vitamins), Eco-fabric (nano cleaning pads) and the Apple iPod Nano are some examples of these products.

While some companies indeed use nanotechnology to innovate and create brand new products, others simply play upon the word nano in an effort to increase sales. Nevertheless, these companies all wish to capitalize on the perception that nanotechnology has created something more modern and better, so you should buy it over older, established products.

There are other entrepreneurs, however, that go a little farther than this with their thinking, and care much less about the perception of an improved product, but focus instead on how to use nanotechnology to im- prove an existing product or process. They achieve this by either fundamentally improving a product using nanotechnology, or by increasing the reliability or cost-effectiveness of the manufacturing process using nanotechnology. To give an example; nanotechnology allows for increasing the stiffness of plastic pieces by including ceramic or metallic nanoparticles in the polymer matrix. Furthermore, it is possible to increase the hardness of a substrate with nanoparticle-based coatings, thereby reducing wear on a given part.

The MEMS Conference series began in 1987 and since 1999 it has been known as the IEEE International Conference on Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems. Reflecting the rapid growth of the MEMS field and the commitment and success of its research community, the MEMS conference series has evolved into the premier annual event reporting research results on every aspect of micro-systems technology. In recent years, it has attracted more than 800 participants and over 200 select papers were presented in oral and poster sessions.

The 23rd IEEE International Conference on Micro Electro Mechanical Systems - MEMS 2010 will be held from January 24 - 28, 2010, in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center, with contributions from MEMS researchers and engineers from universities, research institutions, and industries.

Theme: Equipment for Microproducts

Microsystems have now entered the age of high volume production for consumer applications, especially mobile phones, ICT and medical disposable devices. The issues associated with the production of these are of continued interest to manufacturers. These include tooling in high volume fabrication of precision parts, making highly efficient and reliable automated assembly lines and test systems for microproducts. There is a fast growing market for such components and products.

This 2-day conference intends to stimulate networking and discussions in the casual atmosphere of Villars, a charming village and ski resort located at 1250 meters of altitude. A selection of invited speakers and presentations will comprise the program. A small, table-top exhibition will be conducted in parallel for those wishing to promote their company and products.

The conference will take place on a Thursday and Friday, thus permitting paticipants that wish to stay the weekend to take advantage of the close proximity the ski lifts or simply relax for a couple of days in a laid-back Alpine setting. A conference dinner on Thursday evening at 1800 meters of altitude will add a touch of local charm.

A limited number of participants will be able to attend the event. Don’t miss it!

The SUWA Area Industrial Messe first started in 2002 to display the highly developed precision products and technologies of the manufacturers in Suwa region. Since its establishment in 1987, the EUROSENSORS series of conferences are the only European forum to cover the entire field of Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems. The 5,100 participating exhibitors from over 60 different nations offered an impressive demonstration of the industrial state of the art. Visitor numbers surged to around 200,000 - an increase of approximately 30 percent over HANNOVER MESSE 2006 as the most recent edition of the fair of similar scope.
